AI is the most significant technology built in our lifetime. It is already accelerating drug discovery, predicting protein structures, and advancing science at a pace that was not possible before. That potential is real. And we think the way you use it matters as much as the fact that you use it at all.
Why this matters
June 13th. The US government directed Anthropic to cut access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5 for anyone outside the US. No warning. No appeal. Millions of people who had built their work around these tools woke up to a wall. Not a bug. A policy decision made in one country, affecting the rest of the world.
It started with chips. Hardware export controls quietly reshaped who could build AI infrastructure. Then it moved to models. Now the question is not whether your AI access can be restricted. It is when, by whom, and for what reason you will never be told.
Governments are one risk. Shutdowns, cost spirals, acquisitions, and pivots are others. Any tool that lives behind someone else's API is a tool you are borrowing, not owning. We think that is the wrong foundation to build on.
AI done right changes what is possible for humanity. Not as a metaphor: drug compounds that would have taken decades to synthesize, proteins that unlock treatments for diseases we have had no answer to, science that moves at a genuinely different speed. That is what focused, well-applied AI delivers. And a model built to do one thing cannot be turned against anything else. Not because we restricted it. Because the capability was never there.
